Celebrate Recovery is a healing ministry for anyone with any hurt, habit or hang-up. It is based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and on 8 Recovery Principles found in the Beatitudes. It is not only for individuals struggling with drug and/or alcohol addictions, as is commonly thought when one hears the word “recovery”, rather it is for anyone who is struggling with any hurt, habit or hang-up which is getting in the way in his/her walk with God and relationships with people.

Celebrate Recovery was born in 1991 at Saddleback Church in Orange County,California. There was/is a man in that congregation named John Baker who is a recovering alcoholic. Celebrate Recovery was born out of John Baker’s frustration over not being able to share his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and not being able to share his struggle with alcoholism at church. John received what he believed, and continues to believe, was a vision from God for this ministry. He brought that vision to his pastor, Rick Warren, who gave him the green light to go ahead and do it. Since that time Celebrate Recovery has spread all over the globe. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been transformed through working the Celebrate Recovery program.
